Have they announced the location of next year's game yet?  If not, any speculation?

I don't know if they chose one yet but if Vancouver decides to put their affiliate in Utica I couldn't think of a better way to welcome them back to the league.

I have read that it will be in St. John's. They are waiting for confirmation that the NHL players will be going to the Olympics. If so, that gives the AHL the extra day or two they need to get everyone up to St. John's. If the NHL players don't go to the Olympics, then the AHL All-Star game will be in Bridgeport. If next year's is in St. John's, then 2015 will be in Bridgeport.

Then would it be fair to say that since 2015 may be in Bridgeport that the All Star Classic would take place at PPL Center in Allentown for the 2015-16 season? Because I know within the Baby Pens' second or third year in the AHL, I seem to remember they were awarded one at First Union Arena at Casey Plaza, now Mohegan Sun Arena at Casey Plaza....

One can only hope, that one being me...LMAO

With the way that the Phantoms have been aggressive from the start in Allentown, building up a steady fanbase of over 2000 season ticket holders almost a year and a quarter away from the puck actually dropping here and it's slowly growing by the day, I would like to think we'd be up for it in the next two or three years...I've read one report that says the Phantoms have 4000 season ticket holders, but I've seen other reports in the Allentown Morning Call, that the number is just over the 2000 mark and I'd be far more inclined to believe THAT number.

I remember having gone to the 2001 AHL All Star Classic in Wilkes-Barre and it was really a great time for sure...MUCH better than I ever imagined, met fans from throughout the league and talked with them, it was really a great time, no question about it. I know that Commissioner Andrews was indeed at the ground-breaking for PPL Center about a half-year ago or so and he was very supportive of the project getting off the ground too, so who knows...maybe we'll see a future All-Star Game here within the first few years of the place opening...corporate sponsorship down this way would NOT be a problem, at least I wouldn't think so anyways...I think PPL would be a sponsor along with First National Bank, Lehigh Valley Health Network and Service Electric Cable Television, the official TV home for EVERY Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs AND Phantoms home game, which can also be seen in High Definition too.....I've watched a few of their Iron Pigs' baseball games on TV-2 Sports and I was very impressed with the production and the camera work too...they take a lot of pride in what they do, no question about it...and their broadcasts show it, no doubt... :)

All sarcasm aside from my previous post but what about Iowa. I don't know if they alternate the game between the east and west but Iowa is a semi new market and it would be a good way to help re establish a strong fan base there. Also another one that could be good but probably won't because of consistently poor attendance is Albany. They have all the amenities to accommodate the game and surprisingly have never hosted it.

518, you may or may not know that the host city foots the bill for the ASG, hence the reason some teams haven't, and won't ever host it.

To the best of my knowledge potential host cities submit bids to the league, and the league makes the final decision. I'm not 100% certain, but i believe the ASG in Atlantic City was a result of nobody bidding.

True.  AC was there becasue no team stepped up with offer.  Host city pays for players flights, hotel, and everything else that goes into the game.  Pretty much the reason that all All-Star game tickets are more expensive than a regular ticket.  Teams need a title sponsor or game can be a major financial loss for the franchise.

Iowa won't be hosting an ASG soon. Ticket offices usually focus around the ASG when they host it so they do not take a bath in losing money. Depending on how well the team does, the front office will probably want to focus on 38 games to build a solid attendance rather than just one night.

Portland's turn in the rotation must be coming up pretty soon, right?

I enjoyed the last one at Portland aside from the jackass shoveling snow off the garage room right onto my head.
