  1. I'm surprised the NHL and it's teams aren't making exemptions for younger players who won't get called up by the big club during the Olympics to go play, thinking it's better development for a few weeks of international play.
  2. Didn't NBC have the HoF game right thru this past year?
  3. http://www.providencejournal.com/sports/20160718/kevin-dean-takes-over-as-new-head-coach-of-providence-bruins Boston Bruins general manager Don Sweeney didn't have to look very far to find a new head coach for the Providence Bruins. Forty-seven-year-old former NHL defenseman Kevin Dean -- an assistant under Bruce Cassidy for the last five seasons in Providence -- was named to the top P-Bruins post on Monday. “Donny offered me the job on Friday and I eagerly accepted. I’m excited, a little daunted, but not really. More excited,’’ said Dean, who agreed to a two-year contract with a team option for a third year. “It’s a big job. I understand where the Bruins want to get to. All those pieces that will be coming through Providence in the next little while will be important.’’
  4. Their first Calder Cup championship with an OT win and a sweep of the Hershey Bears.

  6. Panthers talking like they found out same as everyone else. http://panthers.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=881488
  7. http://www.pressherald.com/2016/05/04/portland-pirates-leaving-maine/ Wow.
  8. Michel Therrien once threw a water bottle on the ice to try to stop Aaron Downey from scoring an empty net goal.
  9. Hmm, that's a different setup than usual.
  10. Bruins have signed AHL journeyman Benn Ferriero http://www.hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=93651
  11. Add Providence to the list. They began metal detector sweeps Saturday before the PC Friars game and did so at the Bruins game yesterday. They do it right up at the lobby doors, so be prepared for possibly standing outside waiting for the crowd to thin. They already have bag checks (and have for the last year since the Marathon bombing), so they are really ramping stuff up. Our theory was because they are hosting the NCAA tournament 1st round, it may be preparation for that when March comes.
  12. http://www.theplayerstribune.com/patrick-osullivan-nhl-abuse/ I thought this was interesting. O'Sullivan was an enigma, a guy who bounced around the minors when many projected him as a top line NHL talent. I know it was mentioned more than once here and elsewhere that he was not the kind of guy you wanted on the team, because his diminishing production and piss poor attitude was not worth the headache. Guess this gives it a new perspective.

    AHL Live

I have an iphone, so I don't know if a droid is different. I cannot get ANY audio thru the AHL Live app. Funny enough, Bridgeport and Providence and a handful of others are only available through the AHL Live program. That's when I use my laptop. I generally use IHeart radio or TuneIn to get the other team's radio on my phone.
