  1. This past summer, I introduced a special art project I've been working on for a while, to various sites. I call it "AHL MAX" (AHL Mascot Art Exhibition). AHL MAX is a series of pics of all the AHL's mascots (plus a fan-made mascot for the Texas Stars, since the T-Stars are the one team that doesn't have one), drawn by me. I began drawing these pics at the beginning of the year. I drew them all on Paint Tool SAI. I wanted to work on something like this since 2013. Four years later, I finally got to showcase these images on Facebook, Twitter, and two different art sites. Now, I'm presenting it here! A few things I should note: 1.) While it's possible the Belleville Senators may come up with new mascots for their team, assuming they're planning on having a new mascot, the picture of Max (formerly the Binghamton Senators mascot) can be temporarily in this exhibition until the Belleville Sens introduce a new mascot. 2.) The Texas Stars are the league's only team without an official mascot. To fill in that void, I came up with Sirius the Dog. I didn't come up with this character to directly pitch this mascot idea to the Texas Stars. I did it just for this particular project. That being said, if the Stars organization is interested in having Sirius as their mascot, they can talk to me about it. 10. It looks like the Hartford Wolf Pack is the first team eliminated from a playoff spot. The Rochester Americans look like they could be next. The Amerks have had a few down years in a row. Will your favorite team make it this year? How well do you think they will do?

  14. With both the new calendar year and the halfway point of the season (for most teams) upon us, rumors of what will happen in the offseason are starting to trickle in. Here's what's been talked about so far: Binghamton is moving to Belleville, ON for the 2017-18 season. This is known. What is not known is what comes next; supposedly the B-Sens have a provision in their lease that guarantees a replacement team will be found should the Sens leave before the lease is up. The frontrunners at this time are Albany and Hartford; however, the Wolf Pack signed on to stay in Hartford through next season just last week, and the Devils extended their lease through 2018-19 back in April. My opinion: Neither team moves, and the Senators either stick around for one more year or pay a hefty penalty to break their lease. A rumor that just popped up out of left field on you-know-where is that should the Devils make the move down I-88, ECHL Wichita will move to Albany in their place. Yeah, okay. I'll believe it when I see it. The new NHL team in Las Vegas will need an AHL affiliate eventually, right? One idea I've seen floated is that Vegas will pair up with Chicago and allow someone else to grab the expansion AHL franchise; this makes sense to me because the Wolves enjoy a bit more control over their roster than your typical AHL club, and Vegas will likely appreciate having someone else handle their minor league operations for a couple years. Another rumor I've seen is that someone, be it the Vegas owners or someone else, will put the expansion team in Reno, long rumored to be an ECHL market-in-waiting. Anything else? Thoughts? Questions? Violent objections?

  20. The Admirals defeated Chicago in a shoot out 3-2. The game ended with Saros stopping Brett (Squirrel Face) Sterling, who should have retired. The Amtrak series so far: Admirals 4, Chicago 1 point with 10 games remaining.Adam Payerl had 3 penalties for Milwaukee, of the 9 called against them. Milwaukee gave up 1 PPG and scored 2 PPGs on 5 chances. Chicago was called for 5 penalties, with none in the third period. The Admirals looked like garbage in the 3-on-3 OT, but so did Chicago! Maybe that rule change should go back to a 4-on-4. What I didn't like about the game. In the third period, Liambas was called for boarding. Okay, he did it and it should have been called. But, seconds later and after the whistle, Barbashyov gets away with the same kind of hit on Dougherty, in the same corner of the rink! No penalty was called. I think the AHL should look into that hit for a suspension. Chicago got away with an unbelievable amount of clutch and grab in the third period and the two refs called nothing on them. Pontus Aberg was put into a headlock in the southeast corner and kept in it for at least 5 seconds as the puck slid away. One ref was 10 feet away and looking right at it. The other side of the rink had an elbow in the teeth as a way to take the puck from an Admiral. No call on that either. A Chicago player even clubbed a linesman over the head with his stick. (I believe that he mistook him for an Admiral) The man was down for 15 or 20 seconds. No call. The Chicago player was laughing about it. The linesman looked dazed after he got up off the ice.
  21. The name of the new Tucson AHL team has been announced. They are the Tucson Roadrunners. As you can see, the logo's in the same style the Phoenix Roadrunners and Toronto Roadrunners used. This is just from my observations, but the logo looks like it was doodled in Paint Tool SAI, as opposed to creating the logo in Adobe Illustrator. http://theahl.com/tucson-welcomes-the-roadrunners-p202807
  22. First, there is a Ferraro playing in the AHL! Landon is playing for Chicago. He used to be with Grand Rapids. Second, Milwaukee defeated the Wolves 2-1 in Chicago. Third. All three Milwaukee games and wins this season have been 2-1 victories. That may be the strangest of the three facts presented. Good luck to you AHL fans and your respective teams!
