Condors to host Outdoor Classic

The Bakersfield Condors announced that the team will host the Three-Way Chevrolet Condorstown Outdoor Classic presented by Mission Bank at Bakersfield College’s Memorial Stadium against the Ontario Reign on Saturday, Jan. 7, 2017 at 6 p.m.

It is the signature event of the nearly three-week long Winterfest, which will begin on Wednesday, Dec. 21 and conclude with the Outdoor Classic on Saturday, Jan. 7. ...

Attractions will include public outdoor ice skating, youth and adult hockey tournaments, a 220-ft zip line, winter activities, live music, obstacle courses, kids play area, food and beverage vendors, and more ...

Two rinks, one regulation size and one smaller “studio” rink, will be setup and managed by Rink Specialists who have managed previous outdoor projects including Frozen Fenway at Fenway Park, Toledo Winterfest at Fifth Third Field, Golden State Hockey Rush in Sacramento, and the Hockeytown Winter Festival at Comerica Park ...

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – The Bakersfield Condors announced today that Wayne Gretzky and Luc Robitaille will serve as captains of the two NHL Alumni – Celebrity teams for an Outdoor Game on Friday, January 6 at Bakersfield College’s Memorial Stadium. More NHL alumni and celebrities will be announced in the lead-up to the first day of Winterfest, Wednesday, Dec. 21.

It comes the night before the Three-Way Chevrolet Condorstown Outdoor Classic presented by Mission Bank on Saturday, January 7 at 6 p.m. featuring the Condors and the Ontario Reign, AHL affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings. The NHL Alumni-Celebrity Game is included with a purchase of an Outdoor Classic ticket.

“The success of the (California) NHL clubs has been very positive, but the American Hockey League teams in cities like Bakersfield and Ontario have elevated the sport that much higher and made it even more popular,” Gretzky said. “It’s great to see a city like Bakersfield with people who are excited about watching hockey and have gravitated to these players that one day will play in the National Hockey League.”

“This will bring new fans who may have seen only one or two hockey games, or maybe have never seen a hockey game,” Robitaille said. “They’ll go see it (the Alumni Game and the Outdoor Classic) and it is a lot of fun to be part of it. That’s why we do this. To bring new people and give them an opportunity to enjoy the game that we love.” ...

WINTERFEST SCHEDULE AND ACTIVITIES

CONDORSTOWN, Calif. – Winter is coming and the Bakersfield Condors have all you need to know for the Three-Way Chevrolet Condorstown Winterfest presented by Mission Bank. Just added to the list of events is the Condorstown Winterfest 5K Run on Saturday, Dec. 31.

Purchase a Winterfest Day Pass for $20. The Zip-line is an extra $10. Or you can purchase an all-day pass with unlimited zip line for just $50 total. Only participants in the public skating / inflatables / snow man building / obstacle courses need a pass, so if you’re bringing the kids and not partaking in any of the fun, there is no cost just to watch. You can purchase tickets at Memorial Stadium day of the event, or by clicking here.

Game Highlights from the Condors.  I watched most of this game last night on AHL Live.  I admire and feel sorry for anyone who sat in the rain for all 3+ periods of this event.  Though the pucks with rooster tails & the players' skate tracks through the 1st & 2nd period puddles made for good television.
