It's pretty funny to watch too.... I mean seeing Penner skate out there... he looked lost.

Another little factoid that was mentioned on the broadcast was the fact thanks to the Oilers, there was 77 million dollars worth of contracts on the ice in just two players. (Vanek, Penner).

Hutch, what are you talking about? Please post complete thoughts. Harangue usually means means a speech to the public or a ranting speech or writing.

TSN was focused on Butler for some strange reason all night, Nordy, never saw Gragnani or anyone else, It's like they never covered the Sabres....

If you even watched the game you would have noticed that Butler coughed up the puck two times that led to goals and he was fighting the puck all night so TSN had every right to focus on him and they did they also talked about Gragnani.

Scary moment in the Buffalo/Anaheim game. Lalime got a cut on his wrist from a skate in the first period. it looked deep, but luckily, he's alright and still in net. The last thing we need is to see a goalie hurt in Buffalo.

Moment of silence for flight 3407

Game highlights including standing ovation after game is tied up with 4 seconds left on clock!!!

Nice moment on an otherwise tragic day

Edit- It would have been even better if MSG didn`t cut away early from the moment of silence dry.gif

It was probably only 10 or 15 seconds longer the commercial could have waited

Well, when the Sabres had 16 games remaining I hypothesized that they had to go, at worst, 9-5-2 for the remainder. Since then, they have gone an uninspired 1-1-1 bringing their worst case remaining for a playoff spot to 8-4-1, an obviously even harder goal to reach.

On the bright side for Pirates fans, every lose by the Sabres means one game closer to Butler returning, since they made sure that that was an option via the paper reassignment in time for the CDR. Now, obviously, I'm still rooting for the Sabres, but I can't blame any Pirates fans from rooting against them, especially since the Pirates are more relevant in the AHL playoff picture than the Sabres are currently.

WC,

What do you think the chances of Paetsch getting put on waivers is if BUffalo loses, to go to help us?

Also, has anyone did any research on our Junior prospects? I believe Tyler Myers WHL team is doing fairly well, and i think their playoffs begin soon. Last time I checked, I think Tyer Ennis' team was on the border of making it or not. I really want to see Paul Byron. Looks like he can bury the puck. I am hoping possibly Gogulla or Persson comes over, but I feel like Persson probably will not. But Gogulla has proven himself in the DEL.

Maybe a little goalie help from a college or junior undraftee.

Well for a little update:

Drew Schiestel's OHL team is not doing too well, and he is a solid solid dman.

http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.ph...E&pid=89818

Alex Biega, a dman out of Harvard is a Junior, but I feel like he will take the Chris Butler route, he was captain of the team this season.

http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=95339

Matt Generous was a Senior dman at St. Lawrence with decent numbers, lord knows we need dman. I am sure he will get signed to PTO atleast to get a chance in practice.

http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=87864

Younger brother of Brooks Oprik, Andrew was a senior forward at BC, apparently he is very physical and plays similar to Whitmore, but can make some beautiful passes.

http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=87865

Jordon Southorn is a dman for PEI in the QMJHL. PEI is having a pretty bad season, and does not look like they will make the postseason, J.S. had pretty good points for a dman, again, we need them.

http://hockeydb.com/ihdb/stats/pdisplay.php?pid=87865

and for the record, Byron just reached 99 pts, 66 assists! He is elgible to play in the AHL this coming season. I am liking our chances next year.

Guys coming out of college or juniors will be under ATO's (Amateur Try-Out) contract's as opposed to PTO's...

No,

Paetsch won't be sent down because he's not on the Clear Day roster.... Butler still is eligible to be sent down, however.

As for who from junior could be in Portland. I wouldn't be shocked to see Drew MacKenzie (Vermont), He's a freshman, but the experience around the pro's would be good. Another player, who could make a stop in Portland is Justin Jokinen (Minn St. - Mankato) as his over.

Dennis Persson and Phillip Gogulla are big question marks as they are under Sabres' contract, but opted to stay in Europe as to coming to Portland. Persson's season is close to being done and Gogulla has informed Kolner Haie that he will not return next season and I believe they have just complete their season.

Both of these players would have an instant impact on the Pirates as they carry a couple years pro experience with them already.

Jokinen, is he any relation to who CGY just acquired, WC?

No I do not believe so, Jokinen is born in Sweden I think, Jokinen is Minnesota bred.

WC,

I do not beleive those college kids can sign and go back to college, I think signing ATO's only works in Juniors case on going back. I have never seen a college kid sign an ATO, and go back to school. Either player is doing a heck of a lot of their clubs, why sign pro?
