After an exchange of emails... I've learned the Sabres are looking at three players who could most likely find their way to Portland.
Kiel McLeod -- Not too clear on why the Sabres are looking at him.... maybe because he's 6-6, 235lbs. Nolan Pratt -- Played for Sabres in '07-'08 and knows Dineen pretty well as a former teammate. He would be a solid addition for his veteran experience on D Jim Fahey -- Is looking to get back to North America and more importantly wants to play in New England to be close to family.... Would assume that could be said any team in the Atlantic Division. I would expect some news to come from the Sabres camp next week.... What appears to be different this season compared to the past seasons is that usually we have an abudant amount of prospects (like 16-17) and only need 3-5 veterans signed. However, since we only have 13 under contract, that means if the Sabres sign those 3 vets, we would be near the veteran limit, so they would have to go about signing undrafted college/junior players or AHL players who have only a season or two under their belt. The Sabres did have a few guys at the development camp that I could definitely see them signing, such as Brian Roloff, who is from upstate NY. Also played at the end of the season last year with Providence.
One thing is for sure, with Conboy, and if all 3 of those guys sign, teams like Bridgeport, Manchester and Providence will be less likely to mess with us. What are the chances if Kennedy is awarded too much money in the Sabres eyes, that they take Adam from the Pirates instead of signing someone else? |

Still no word on Dineen either? Seems rather sketchy he isn't locked up yet.
What about assistant coaches? I know that Collins guy left, but, what about Weinrich, was he under contract still? |

I wouldn't worry about Dineen. Or Weinrich for that matter. Both were at development camp. Both will be behind the bench in october, which wont be here soon enough.

Dineen will be back and so will Weinrich..... I've talked to the Sabres and they are finalizing an extension Dineen. He is working to prepare the Pirates for the upcoming season. -------------------- |

Sabres GM Darcy Regier said in his presser today that his focus is now turning to Portland's roster so stay tuned for signings in the coming weeks.
