I don't find it too surprising really, why not take your chance at your own negotiations with a player/agent who are now suddenly and unexpectedly without a team and it's already August? I think he will get picked up, but they must be feeling desperate which, ironically, could get him to accept a very similar contract to what the Sabres had originally offered him. Also, teams might not like the one year since they would just have to go through this same crap next season when he would again be a arbitration eligible RFA, not that he would probably have the balls to attempt that route again. |
