Hey guys, this is my first post, one of many to come, on this forum. I'm from Rochester, NY, and a huge Buffalo Sabres fan. I'm 24 years old and i post very activily on several Sabres message board but needed to get my AHL fix since the baby Sabres are no longer in my backyard. Wildcard48, who visits a Sabres forum i am part of, forwarded it me to this place. Looks great, good to see many Pirates fans and a active forum. I am really looking forward to getting your feedback on the future Buffalo Sabres.

I have only seen Portland play twice in my entire life. In 1996, Game 1 of the finals and Game 7 of the finals in Rochester both times. lol. But make no mistake about it, i don't care about the Amerks anymore, i go where my Sabres go. I'm really interested in learning about the city of Portland, the fans and the history of your club in the upcoming days and months.

However, i will be going to Portland this season for a game. November 7th vs. Springfield. I'm actually going to spend the weekend in Boston. Friday go to the Pirates game, Saturday Sabres @ Boston and Sunday Bills @ Pats. Also the Pirates will be playing at HSBC Arena later in the season.

Anyways, I just wanted to say hello before i started to post. This looks like a nice web site. I'm pumped for the season and hope the Sabres kids do well for you guys in Maine.

Hey all, I'm Nick 23 years old living in Portland. I have been a fan of the AHL for many years. I first started going to the Pirates in 95. I use to live up in the Waldoboro area. I remember as a kid getting out of school at 3pm and my parents picking me up and us driving straight to Portland for the game. This happened alot. One year we went to 20 games. That is my best memories, games with my family.
Now I go to every game and listen to every away game on the radio. Though I wasnt fond of the Anaheim teams, and didnt go to any games last year, Im pumped for this year.

I work for myself as a pearl, diamond, precious metals dealer. I forget the rest of the generic questions. But, I probably live the closest to the civic center, I live less then 3 minutes away at the corner of high and congress. I can see the civic center from my window.
Anyways its nice to find this forum, I will be posting on here every second I get. Go Pirates!

Welcome to the forum. It must be nice to live so close to the civic center. Back when you were driving from Waldoboro, I was walking from State Street. Now I drive up from Boston. Life's funny that way.

I'm Murph, I'm 26 from Buffalo, NY. I'm here for two main reasons: I want to learn as much as I can about the prospects of the Sabres and I want to talk some of you into joining and posting at www.wnysportstalk.com/forum because we could really use some people who really know there Pirates and AHL stuff. Unfortunately, we are kind of in the dark here in Buffalo about the farm club now that it is no longer Rochester and I would love to reach out and meet some Pirates fans and learn how everybody feels about the future and the change of affiliation and, like I said, learn a fan perspective on the players. I really look forward to hearing back from others and I hope to see some of you posting at www.wnysportstalk.com/forum. Thanks!

I guess every group needs a Smitty. I'm 25 and a third generation Portlander. I have been a fan for a while especially coming back from the University of Maine in Orono since Timmay Whitehead has done a great job of driving that program to the ground. My half season tickets for next season will be seven rows back from the bench, so I am really looking forward to that.

Oh yeah, you could probably guess where my username comes from. My biggest complaint about the organization is that they play the same teams every year. A little variety would be nice, but I am not holding my breath for next year's matrix.

I was a season lurker and enjoyed the discussion from almost all the posters. Finding out how many passionate fans of the Pirates there are has been a pleasant surprise as well. Hope to see you all on the street hockey court and let's hope for another late May run for the Pirates as unlikely as that is.

Welcome aboard, Smitty! You're preaching to the choir with your username. I would think we'd have a better chance next year with Buffalo maybe wanting the team to take on the Amerks... dontknow.gif Probably not though.
