QUOTE (Eindeutschmark @ May 3 2006, 09:39 PM)
Hi everyone, my name is Mark (20, South Portland)....new to the boards, so I just wanted to get my foot in the door so to speak. In addition to being the biggest Colorado Avalanche fan on the east coast, I am an aspiring sports broadcaster and I've been interning with Greg Glynn since October. Definitely looking forward to chatting with and getting to know all of you.

Take it easy,

Mark

Hey Mark,

Nice to see you made it.... :D

Welcome

Age:29

Where I'm from, Where I am: I am orignally from Agawam, Massachusetts (please don't hold that against me). Moved with my family to Maine when I was 11.

What I Do: I am self-employed as a real- estate appraiser, and I am currently studying photography with the New York Institute of Photography.

I have been a Pirates fan since they came to Portland, but never got really serious about it until 5 seasons ago... I've been hooked ever since!

Favorite Pirates Memory: The 2005-06 season. I love this team and I love what Anaheim has brought to Portland.

Favorite Current Pirate: For the first time as a Pirates' fan, I love all the guys. It is difficult to choose one.

Favorite Past Pirate: Maxime Ouellet

Other than hockey and photography, I love to play softball with the team my husband and I put together during the summer. When the warm weather comes around, my camera is turned toward landscape and outdoor sports photography. I hope that I can put my photography skills to use as a freelance photographer shooting sports teams and landscapes in the future.

I've been blessed to be able to volunteer my time photgraphing the Pirates' games and community events for their web site. Next year, I hope to attend more community events and maybe even more away games. Working with the Pirates has been absolutely amazing!

Haha, it's fine, once I figured out how to set you up it was fine, but I think because it had been over a week since you registered you weren't on my validating list, so I was like ummmm something is wrong. (W-R-O-N-G wroooong... sorry Dane Cook reference)

HOLY CRAP!!!!! Your profile song was the National Anthem of my buddy Brandon's 3-day 5-state bachelor party. Great, great times....plus we stayed a night in Hartford. (I think...that night was rather fuzzy)

We just changed the line about "Jen" to my buddy Joel's hot sister...all else remained intact.

Best part of the weekend (aside of the Sox beating the Stanks 10-2 in the Bronx) was my getting approached by a hooker who looked exactly like...

No, don't ask, I saved my money...

Name: Nick
Years being a Pirates fan: Since Day 1, used to go to Mariners games but wasn't really old enough to be a huge fan.
My favorite current Pirates: Curtis Glencross, Shane O'Brien
My favorite former Pirates: Kent Hulst, Jason Christie, Steve Poapst
Favorite memory of this year: Jordan Smith pumping up the crowd after winning a fight, hadn't seen anything like that from a Pirate in a realllly long time.
My hobbies: Golfing, Roller Hockey, Hiking, Playing X360, collecting AHL pins (I've got a pretty nice collection going)

As far as I know, I've been to an AHL game every year of my life. My grandparents lived an hour from Glens Falls so my father used to take us to Adirondack Red Wings games whenever we visited. I think my first game was against the Mariners. Growing up, we actually lived closer to Saint John/Frederiction than Portland so whenever the Pirates were there on a weekend, we would go up. If you ever saw a kid with a Hulst jersey in those cities, it was probably me. We went to a lot of Flames games over the years and were very disappointed to see them go. They had the best fans in the league during the early years as far as I'm concerned.

I haven't been to a ton of AHL rinks but my list does include Moncton, Fredericton, Saint John, Manchester, Worcester, Albany, Syracuse, Glens Falls, Providence, and Troy (Capital District Islanders).

I've been skating since I was 2 but there's not a single rink in the county I grew up in so it was all pond hockey for me. I finally got to play organized hockey during my freshman year at Thomas College and loved it. Angelstad (the poster on here) was also on that team. I decided to retire after that though so that I could work. Worked at Wal Mart for 3 months...that was more than enough for me and then worked in the Seafood Department at Hannaford while I went to school.

Well that's enough. :D

Fav memory: This season, but I do have a recent fav memory. I sit in section N, in the first few rows so I have a pretty good look at the boards. One of the Bruins was diddling around with the puck behind the net. Behind him skated in Glencross, aimed directly at him and the guy didnt notice. Needless to say he went down after leaving a rather nifty face impression on the glass.

As to the user name, I chose it after the badly called Hershey/Pirates games this year. :D
